SEP/Rovers/Youtube
Short update of myself. I have decided to go for SEP (Student Exchange Program ) after all. Although the "unknown" and "fear" factor is there, I guess its time to step out of my comfort zone and experience this once in a lifetime opportunity. In additional, I will get to opportunity to travel/backpack around. (something which I doubt I will have time for in the rat race society of Singapore) Initially wanted to go South Africa (say: "wah you crazy!") but after realising that backpacking/traveling around there alone is not really a wise idea (high crime rates, 2nd in the world). Hence I'm now considering Canada or UK. Still got a month to decide and send in my application. Hope can get someone to go with me.

My top choice in Canada: University of British Columbia. If nothing else I will go there just purely for the view =)

I'm in NUS 28th Rovers Executive Committee as the Publicity Assistant Secretary! Wasn't planning to run this year but then decided to go SEP next year and so happen that there is a opportunity for me to re-run for 28th so I just grabbed this opportunity. Will update on the trips for this coming break here soon once it's finalize. (Those (non-NUS) interested can approach me to sign up too. Sebrina, you looking at this? )

Don't know what got into me this few days. Keep fiddling around with Youtube. Guess I getting bored of mugging. BUT I did manage to find something interesting. Amongst all the rubbish and people's covering of songs that's on Youtube I manage to find 2 very talented "Youtube" singers. Miaarose and TheBathroomGirl.

Actually I came upon Miaarose quite a while ago and I always thought she's the best Youtube singer around but its only recently I discover TheBathroomGirl. I must say she is even more outstanding the Miaarose. (Guess I prefer her genre and style of music better). But still, credits to both of them. Check out their video and decide for yourself who is better. (Both of them have their personal channel on Youtube. Go take a look at TheBathroomGirl self-composed pieces. Highly recommended.)

Miaarose

TheBathroomGirl

Anyway after watching TheBathroomGirl, was inspire to play with my guitar again. But keep pis*ing my Mom off cause I normally play before I go to sleep (like in the wee hours of the morning). Nevertheless shall keep playing to improve myself.

Time to pick it up again. Been neglecting it for too long.

Notice I change my background song to Alanis Morrisette's "Ironic" . Think I shall make it a point to change the background sound every so often. It's a very catchy tune and I would say rather thought provoking too. Anything ironic happen to you today?

Cover by TheBathroomGirl. One word: Outstanding

"Ironic"

An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic...don't you think
A little too ironic...and, yeah, I really do think...

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out
