My blog is still alive!

Haha as the topic suggests, my blog is still alive! (Well though there hasn't been any update since 8th Nov. 3 weeks? *sheepish*) Finally, cleared 5/6 of my modules and left one final paper next Tuesday! Then it will be read: Freedom! Anyway just some random post and pictures till I got nicer photos from my upcoming treks.

Exams
Well no body like exams. (Yes that include me). So shan't talk about it at all. Had a thermodynamic paper today. Before the paper people are calling it thermo-die-namic. I think after the paper today can change it to thermo-dead-damn-it.

Linus
Was going to central forum that day when I can't resist to post a picture with Linus, apparently the little known mascot of NUS. Linus = Lion + NUS

Following which I used that photo as my MSN picture and wala!~ quite a few people commented on it. So George eventually manage to get me a smaller version of Linus haha. ( Didn't really look like the original but nevertheless something worth to keep. Thanks George!) Put the baby Linus on my desk and in the midst of serious mugging, can't help but do "disturb" it. =)

Don't blame me! Mugging can get boring at times.

Fly Kite
Oh another random picture. Was looking out of my room window that day then saw this spectacular sight! Guess it was the last day for the primary school kids so they are having this kite flying thing going on. How I wish I can be outside with them. Been ages since I flew a kite. Any takers?

Audio House
Is a SCAM! Wonder how many of you received this brochure from audio. It one the front page "60% rebate!" Initially I took a look and saw that they are selling the Olympus camera that I was aiming for at 40% of the price! And on top of that they are throwing in a Creative Stone Mp3 2Gb player plus tonnes of freebies. Too good to be true? and so it wasn't true after all. 60% REBATE not sale. In the end heard from my sister's friend that what they do is actually sell you the gadget at the original price and after which let you join a "lucky draw" kind of thing. If you will then they will "pay" you back the 60%.... in VOUCHER. Scammer... Wrong move totally by audio house. If publicity is what they are looking for? well they got it though but in the bad way.

Ayumi Hamasaki
Haha another thing that I came about during the numerous mugging breaks I had. Don't know how many of you are there are Ayumi's fan. Well on a scale of 10 I would put my self say 7? But what general comments I get is most people either like her a lot or totally can't stand her. Why? Beats me. Anyway found this video of an impressive performance by her (one of her not so publicize songs though). (One of the best I have seen from singers.) For Ayumi fans out there well enjoy this video and those not so "fan" maybe you will change you mind after this. (The song started a bit slow but became quite impactful towards the end. Worth the wait. Very good lyrics too.)

Ayumi Hamasaki: Memorial Address

Well thats about all for my random post. Good luck to those that still have on going papers and those that already finish, I will join you guys soon! Till then fights on.. fights on

Wish List Updates

Decided to do a separate posting to keep things organised. Updates of my wish list! ( Hwi Bee says my list quite cheapo but nevertheless I feel its practical!) Got my 60 litre bag from Golden Mile Complex($170). Its Tatonka V2 system. Manage to try out both the V1 and V2 system. V2 is heavier but more comfortable and the supports are better. The straps of the V1 system a bit flimsy. Anyway its $15 difference so might as well get the one with better support. Its the Yukon series as introduce by me sometime back but sadly they do not have any other colour options other than the blue one. In fact mine is the last piece (the uncle says he is not going to import any more new pieces) so for those interested, you may have to go somewhere else to find it.

Got my water bag too at the some shop. Camelbak bag with 2litre load capacity and it comes together with a 2litre water bladder too. Got quite a good price for it I feel($80). Didn't notice the luminous strips until I took the picture with flash.

Some other stuff in my wish list:

Sleeping Bag for the cold cold night

Mosquito Coil casing. Muahaha die you mosquitoes!

Field Chair

Waterproof Bags

So here's a summary of my wish list:
1. 60L Tatonka backpack plus rain cover
2. Camelbak waterbag
3. Water proof ziplock/bag
4. Field Chair
5. Hammock/Sleeping bag
6. Mosquito coil container? (Don't know what it is exactly called)

7. Olympus waterproof camera
8. Frying pan

Well thats leaves me with just the camera and frying pan. Frying pan no big issue. It's the camera that bothers me. I was thinking since I already applied for exchange and if I got it won't it be good that I get myself a camera too? BUT I'm a bit hesitant after burning a big hole in my pocket this month. Hopefully my IPPT money comes in soon.

*Happy but broke*
**Enough of blogging, time to back to books** *scowl*

Photos and more Photos

GEK1006
Back from the disgustingly irritating GEK1006 "Dynamics of Interpersonal Communication" 40% test. For those out there, unless you want something no brainer, something that required big fat zero effort, then you can consider this module. Skipped more than 70% of the lecture, and glad to do so cause the I don't learn anything out of it. End up the textbook teaches me more stuff than the weekly 2 hour mundane lecture. On one hand I'm glad about the low workload of this module, but on the other hand I feel I could have use my modules bid points on something more enriching.

Anyway, I'm rather free today cause its Deepavalli! So might as well do a longer post to keep things up to date.

Rovers 28th Appreciation Dinner
To start things off, photos from my com appreciation dinner sometime back at ECP! Been working rather closely with them for the past few weeks for the upcoming December trekking trips so might as well introduce them now. The people are nice, fun loving and the chemistry is there too =)

Current 28th com with all the alumni dating back to the 21st batch I think. Kind of reminds me of the days in NJ OAC

Current publicity cell and alumni pub cell

New Balance Real Run
Remember some time back I posted something regarding the NBRR? Yup its over and I must say it's a better experience the the AHM though.
1. The bag deposit is way better(A very very big plus point!). Although they charge us $1 for it, its as good as 1min to deposit in and 1min to collect out. Better then the FOC AHM bag deposit where it's 1 min in, 3 hours out. *frown*
2. Better goodie bag with nicer tee shirt and also a shoe bag
3. Better lucky draw, won nothing at AHM but won a pair of tic for 2008 Singapore Airshow =) Who want to go (buy me tea! haha) ?

"Huat" ah! Can go buy 4-D

Starting Point

Our dear President flagging of the run. Wonder what he thinks of waking up so early on a Sunday morning to go to Changi just for the flag off

Met Sam with his SMU run team there

Just for the record of me being there

Overall a much better organised run although its kind of hot towards the end due to the late flag off time. But I saved $20 of taxi fee by not having to go down in the wee hours of the morning. Don't have any more run coming up already(except maybe next year Feb NUS biathlon. Already saw posters about it in campus). So if there is some run you know about "jio" me?

Updates

Phew... Finally manage to squeeze a bit of time out to to blog for a while. Quite a bit of updates and stuff to post about.

Random Stuff
First things first, I feel its time to change the background song again. This time round it ways back to the 90s. "I'm Free" by Jon Secada. I bet less than 20% of my blog readers even heard about Jon Secada less hear the song before. Nice holiday feel of a song though, especially the part :

"
Cause I'm free, I'm free
And things are only as important
As I want them to be
We'll have a breath of sunshine
When the rain goes away
I pray, I pray"

Next, was talking to Shao Ming today and don't know why Mr. Brown's podcast comes into our conversation. I won't say I'm a ultra big fan of his but I do check his podcast out once in a while. Came across this very funny podcast some time ago(trust me its worth the time!) Mr. Brown Show

Student Exchange Program
Arghh! Finally decided where I want to go. NO amount of influence is going to change my decision now cause I already submitted my application for Loughborough in UK. After much consideration, decided that the temptation to travel Western Europe is way way more attractive then the mesmerizing sceneries at UBC (I am That shallow ha!). Anyway if successful, I'm going to have 4 other Mech Engine counterparts joining me over there. Some of my friends have applied for it also. Hopefully we shall all get it.

Loughborough University, somewhere between Nottingham and Leicester.

Not as beautiful as UBC *sigh*

A lot more to update but think I better go back to my books for now. Have this DISGUSTING "Interpersonal Communication" module test on Wednesday (worth 40%!). If I finish early might log back in for update regarding
1) New Balance Run
2) Rovers 28th Com chalet/appreciation dinner
3) My wish list

*chains clanging as Sj crawled back to his books*
